1981-2003
A Brief History
I began breeding horses in 1981. I bred my sixteen year old half-Arabian/Tennessee Walking pleasure horse to a purebred Arabian stallion, then only two years old, by the name of AULRAB 194466 now deceased (Aurab 12488 x Alarieha). I was looking to breed a replacement for my mare hoping for a foal with great action and white markings. Aulrab had both. In June of 1982, my first foal was born. She is registered in the Half-Arabian Registry as Aulrabs Sansation but everyone knows her as "Phoebe." Although she did not get the abundance of white markings I was looking for, she certainly got the action. She is my current riding horse and personal favorite.
I then acquired two purebred mares to breed to Aulrab. The first, a Silver Vanity daughter, GF SILVER MYSTERY, I co-owned with Sandy Warren, Aulrab's owner. As partners, we took turns breeding Mystery on an every-other-year basis. Mystery passed away in 1996.The second, was a *Raffles granddaughter, MIRA RAFFA, more on her below.
My first foal from Mystery was CR ROUSING CHEER, a chestnut gelding by Aulrab foaled March 24, 1984. This mating had two years earlier produced Aur Vanity who was imported into Australia and has had quite a successful show career under the ownership of Australian Arabian Stud in Sydney. Sadly, Aur Vanity died in 1995 after obtaining many championships in pleasure driving.
CR ROUSING CHEER, known as "RC" is a 15.2-1/2 hand action horse with lots of movement and personality. He was sold in May of 1989 to endurance rider, Sue Grahl. See his AERC record. (Both pictured left at the AERC 2000 ride in New Mexico where he came in 11th in his weight division at age16 yrs) RC has already proven himself by winning a Best Condition award and by winning a 50 mile endurance race. He had been professionally trained in pleasure driving and western work.

1986 Stallion by Ben Rabba x Silver Vanity daughter 71% Crabbet.
The second foal out of Mystery I feel is her very best. He is my stallion, CR SILVER MONARCH by the multi-champion sire BEN RABBA. "Sammy," his barn name, is typy, correct and has a very mellow, sweet temperament. In 1988, when he was two years old and not fully mature, he made an impression on Ed Hubbert (the long-time owner of Ben Rabba who sadly died in May of 1989). After close inspection, Ed Hubbert and Carol Mulder, published Arabian horse author, have both told me that CR Silver Monarch is one of Ben Rabba's very best sons.
CR Silver Monarch went to Dale Raymond of Hilmar, California in 1989 where he was shown in halter and saddle trained. He finished 1989 with a First Place in 3 and 4 Year Old Stallions at the Crescent Arabian Club's show, September 23.
In 1990 Sammy stood at stud for his first season and bred a Silver Vanity daughter, Silver Taffy for a 1991 April foal. This grey colt, Andrada Silver C is owned by Elizabeth Barene of Vale, Arizona. Sammy went back to Dale Raymond for more training. Later on, Sammy was trained by an Australian trainer who trained him as a stock horse. Sammy went to Bakersfield where he won two third place ribbons in Stock Horse. Then in 1992, Sammy went to Mystic Arabian Farm in Petersburg, Viriginia on a lease program where he sired about 16 foals and was shown successfully in dressage. He also performed in musical drill teams with other dressage team members. He then went to Canada in 2000 with his first foal crop in 2001 of 6 foals, several of which are from Thoroughbred mares. His Anglo-Arab get are very good quality. He has had 3 foals crops while standing in Canada, the last arriving in 2003. CR Monarchs Memory
The "best"daughter of CR Silver Monarch (bred by Georgia Cheer)

His best foal in my opinion is his bay 1994 daughter, CR Monarchs Memory (pictured above and below right) out DZ Matushka by *Druzba). I hand picked DZ Matushka to breed to my stallion. One reason why is that she had a Naseem top male line which I felt through my studies through the years to be the nice for my stallion. I was not disappointed. CR Monarchs Memory,"Ellie" is in my opinion, a better than both her parents, which as a breeder is what we all strive to produce. She continually won 2nd place halter ribbons in Class A competition as a yearling, usually beat in the Pacific Northwest by R.O. Lervick Arabians. I wish they would have stayed home so "Ellie" could have gotten more first place ribbons! She competed successfully in Halter and western pleasure, taking a Jr. Championship in WP, qualifying for Region 3 (No. California) in both divisions and Regions 4 (Oregon and Idaho) and 5 (Washington, No. Idaho and Alaska) in Mare Halter.
She is the first bay foal from a gray mare sired by CR Silver Monarch. He has now sired 3 bays from gray mares. "Ellie" was bred by me, Georgia Cheer. Now owned by Robin Malkasian in Connecticut. Both pictured here in 2001 enjoying a rest during a trail ride. See and read more about Ellie and Robin.
Back to the Cheer Ranch Story
The second purebred mare I purchased was MIRA RAFFA, a *Raffles granddaughter by Mraff (a many-time Park horse champion). Mira Raffa was a 14.1 hand very sweet gray mare who possessed a bold, high-stepping trot. She is of the popular American breeding formula combining *Raffles with *Mirage lines. Mira produced two fillies when bred to Aulrab, the first one, CR FINE IDEA, a chestnut and the second filly, a grey, were later sold. CR Fine Idea now belongs to Cody and Judy Thornton of Calipatria, California. The other grey filly, CR Mercedes has gone to her owner in Arizona. At about this time (1990) I moved from central California to Washington state. CR Silver Monarch went to Virginia on a breeding lease. He stayed there 6 years breeding Arabian mares of different pedigree backgrounds and learning dressage. His daughter CR Monarchs Memory was then foaled in Oregon and I began to raise her and show her. I am no longer actively breeding as I am concentrating mainly on my Crabbet magazine and web site career.
