georgia bowling
Here I am bowling in Basingstoke, Hampshire last September 2001. I'm afraid my bowling skills have greatly diminished since I was a teenager. This really isn't a good thing for my arm as I have tendonitis. Well once in a couple of decades it is worth the fun I suppose.

February 22, 2002 Send me your videos before March 26! Share your ideas with me!
What have I been doing, you might wonder. I have been working on various aspects of webdesign for myself and for a customer. This puts food on my table and petrol in my car, as currently my income has been from back issues sales. The positive news is that I predict big things for this website this year, and I will soon be able to share with you AND include you in the changes. Of course these things have taken time and thought, but one thing I can assure you, they will bring the Crabbet community closer.

VIDEO PROJECT. This year I will be trying to visit as many breeders here in England that I can afford to (gas and traveling is VERY expensive in this country) to spread the word of Crabbet. Therefore if you wish to share your videos with me, of what you and your horse have accomplished, I will encourage people to view them. My request is to put pertiinent interesting exciting footage on your video, edit to the highlights or tell a story that would compel or interest someone viewing to either buy, breed or become involved with Crabbet line Arabs. If you have historic footage, please consider sharing that with me. I wish to build a video library for Arabian breeders to have shared access to increase awareness of the best qualities of our Crabbet descended Arabians. Also, if you wish me to market some of your ideas, or sell some of your unique horse items, write me, or send me a sample. I will be back in the US for a week in March and will happily take your videos (samples) back to England with me to share/try to market. So mail them to: Georgia Cheer PO Box 188 Battle Ground WA 98604-0188. Please also send with your video: 1) Describe content, names of people, horses names reg. #, dates, shows, all pertinent data so I know what is on your video, 2) signature stating that the video is a gift to me from you and has no value, 3) your permission to permit me to show it publicly, and 4) $3.00 (UK £2.00) towards catalogue, handling and storage boxes. (Items 1-3 are required for customs officials) (My UK address is on the home page, lower center) Help me to continue to promote and improve the demand for Crabbet line Arabians!

February 2, 2002 Visit to Imperial Arabian Stud
On Wednesday January 30, I traveled with Caroline Sussex, her Australian visitor and new-ish Arabian breeder Sandra (didn't get her last name) to visit Imperial Arabian Stud, owned by Geoffrey and Barbara Plaister. We were to meet Diana Whittome, owned of British National Champion Ridden horse IMAD there to view horses that were possible candidates for the Crabbet convention. Diana is a judge and her insights were sought by the committee. Although I have been to Geoffrey's several times, and I have my favorites among his stock, I am not on the horse selection committee for the Convention. Geoffrey showed us many horses and to be fair, this is NOT the time of year to be evaluating horses as it is winter and no horse looks its best! However, Geoffrey has several offspring of Neuferet and Shabash which are more scarce, and he has so many Crabbet Arabians of Hanif, Dargee and Bright Shadow lines. He is also standing the Silvadoris son, Indian Banner (x Xarifa by Indian Magic) who is expected to come to the Convention per his owner Dawn Sloane. We had a delightful visit, Geoff and Barbara are super friendly and loving people. It is quite likely that up to 4 of his horses will be invited to the convention. My hint to anyone reading this is to contact them (this link goes to my list from Summer 2000) if you want to buy Crabbet as they do have a large herd of many super individuals Best to get their stock list EARLY before convention time and if you are coming over, visit their stud to see the stock in person.
January 27, 2002 Website moved over, whew!
Yes, the site is now moved. Life here has been quite interesting as there was a power outage on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night causing havoc with my computer, and not being able to cook, bath or flush. I'm sure I don't need to go into more detail. Suffice it to say, the storm wasn't that severe, so what is the problem in this tiny village? Rather, with the electric company that serves this part of the world? Fortunately, an American friend who lives in the next village came to my rescue last night and offered to cook my marinated pork, throw in some leftovers he had and turned it into a lovely meal. All I had to do was drive over with the meat, sit back and enjoy the warmth of the fireplace, conversation, and smell the food frying. My friend Charlie is an American gardener who married an English woman. He used to work as a cook in a Chinese restaurant in San Francisco's chinatown so the food came out super. "Not bad for short notice!" he said. I hear that back at home in Washington state, Guy is dealing with snowfall, 3-4 inches today. I have email contact with him daily, and on the weekends we talk on the phone. I have found a phone service (again with the help of another friend here) that charges about 5 cents a minute to call the U.S.A. Wonderful I say! I wish though that I was home with Guy making snow angels in the snow, throwing snowballs at one another and cooking a meal for him. However, he hasn't been home much because he had training in Atlanta nearly all last week and now has to pay the bills, and buy the groceries. I'm not making any income so I've can't help him out, need to find a way to earn a few 'quid' here in the UK ASAP. So again, with power out, haven't sent to many emails lately.
January 24, 2002 Website to change over within next week or two
Working on annual budgets this past week and came to the conclusion my web host wasn't economical nor worth what I pay them! They actually prompted this review as my original web host has been bought once, and just recently, the second owner is being bought. So with each change of hand, I lose service, pay more and haven't a clue what I lose in downtime. You many recall that when this last happened, I lost emails that came to my georgia@crabbet.com address! Getting a straight answer is difficult as auto response emails are the norm. If there has been no change to the home page within 5 days of the last entry date, then please go to my forum for any special message to you as I will continue to update via the forum in case I get shut out of my website!
Other than these frustrations above, I have signed on with PAYPAL as some of my customers use PAYPAL to make charge card payments via the internet. For those of you who have accounts with PAYPAL you can now use it to buy from this site. For those of you who don't, you may wish to join them, it's free and convenient.
January 16, 2002 - THIS IS THE YEAR TO VISIT ENGLAND!!!
Spent today working on a new form for Crabbet fans to fill out. Also did a lot of projections about future plans. I did manage to get some new photos on this page. Being here in England has almost become too familiar. People don't sound so foreign. I probably do sound foreign to them though. I must say it is really worth visitors coming to England this year. First off, no more Foot & Mouth, the country has been declared disease free. It is the Queen's Jubilee Year, she came to the throne Feb. 8, 1952 so there are masses of celebrations planned in this country throughout the year. Many favorite tourist areas can be easily booked now, and I highly recommend people who read this to please make arrangements to come to England for the CRABBET CONVENTION. If you have questions on getting about over here, recommendations of what to see, what costs are, or anything that might make your decision to come visit Great Britain, please write me. I could even phone some breeders that you are interested to visit to open the lines of communication for you. Yes, I'd be delighted to see many of my friends this coming September at the convention. If a lot of my friends come, I might have to organize our own private party!!!
January 13, 2002
Lots of web work ahead as I try and reformulate my website and practice with a few scripts to get other forms onto the site. I have several pages worth of new work to accomplish but anyone who has done web design will tell you it is very time consuming. I'm also reading scripts to 'learn' how to do this, so just comprehension takes a lot out of me. Now in case you are wondering, I will be creating pages that have income generating features but with that in mind, the pages are designed to help sell and promote things having to do with the Crabbet Arabian. I have read emails and am in contact with PEOPLE who either have horses to sell or have need for information. I wish to help ALL those who ask help of me, bearing in mind that I have to use my time in order to earn a living. I can't live off of cereal here, and these ducks and the large swan consume bread in mass quantities. Plus my home in the US now needs exterminators for the mice that have continued to chew through our phone lines. I am without a fax line at home because of this, but still paying for it! Okay, so you have enough problems of your own, why read about mine! Because you care about me....(thanks!)

January 10, 2002
Happy New Year one and all. I have had a glorious 3 weeks with my husband Guy visiting me and so therefore little of my time was spent on the computer. I do apologize for not giving you more regular updates. However, since I have not been in contact with Guy for 6 months, you had better understand why! We did many enjoyable things together over the holiday period. I cooked a turkey dinner for us two on Christmas day. Then I hosted a Boxing Day lunch for some of my English relatives. Guy and I saw Lord of the Rings and we also traveled to Paris aboard the Eurostar. The weather was very chilly there but we managed fine and Guy went to the top of the Eiffel Tower for a good look around. I am afraid of heights so I only went to the first level, that was high enough for me. We spent half a day in the Louvre Museum and half a day in the Museum d'Orsay. We toured Notre Dame and walked the Champs Elysee. As Christmas was nearing, we saw many beautiful window decorations, some animated with little stuffed animals! We also went to London twice and spent one visit entirely in the Victoria and Albert museum, a totally terrific museum with so much to see, I want to go back. I drove a lot in my little car which isn't good for my arm as the car has no power steering. Now I am paying the price as my tendonitis has been quite painful. I have been maintaining a large group of mallard ducks that come below my window every morning for their breakfast of bread. I'm afraid they eat more than I can really afford as I am not earning an income currently but with it being winter, someone has to look after them. Plus there is one swan born this past spring, full grown but not fully feathered and he has decided I should feed him quite often during the day. To add to my winter family a little Robin has discovered my window sill often has bread crumbs and so he is there waiting for his food too. Funny, Robin's are terribly territorial and today when I was personally feeding the swan, Robin sat in the tree above us chirping loudly his protest of this large hungry swan on his beat!

I have changed the layout of this page after viewing my nephew Julian's website. My eldest nephew is a very talented young man, and I hope you will take some time to visit his website at www.jmanx.com. Meanwhile, life has slowly returned back to my all alone days now that Guy has returned to the U.S.
